“BETWEEN DREAMS AND REALITY...”

My encounter with Hassan, six years old, on his bicycle, will remain etched in my memory. His radiant smile, alongside his best friend Brahim dressed in a superhero tshirt, formed a universal image of childhood.

For a moment, they were simply children like any others, playing in the dust with that carefree spirit that should be the right of every human being. But the illusion shattered when the food distribution truck arrived.

In just seconds, I saw their expressions change. Carefree joy gave way to a worry far too mature for their age.
These children, who moments before played with innocence, suddenly became miniature adults - aware of the scarcity of supplies and the importance of this
distribution. Girls returning from school, hand in hand, curious and full of life.
Mohamed Amine clutching his oversized ball, eyes sparkling with excitement.
Each of them, in their own way, was already trying to be useful, to contribute to the survival of the camp.

This image shook me deeply: watching children grow up so quickly, shifting in an instant from play to concern, from innocence to responsibility. No child should have to endure such a brutal transition, to carry such weight on fragile shoulders. And yet, within their eyes lies our greatest hope. For behind this premature maturity are intact dreams, extraordinary resilience, and an incredible ability to find joy despite everything.

Let’s support these children so they can simply be children.
